Yes, that’s right, the majority of the Caribbean is open for business as usual!  Following hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Caribbean islands that were least affected have bounced back quickly and are ready to welcome guests.  Saint Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Antigua, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Jamaica and Mexico’s Riviera Maya are waiting with open arms, a big Caribbean smile and glorious sunshine to give you the warmest of welcomes!

Of course, some of the neighbouring islands didn’t fare so well and our thoughts are with those that were so badly affected.  The British Virgin Islands and Anguilla are closed for business at the moment, with every effort being made to rebuild and reopen as soon as possible, but needless to say, they need to concentrate on the infrastructure first and everything else will follow.  With their strength and determination, we know that they will be back on their feet again before we know it.  Aid is being sent out from the UK and we are all doing whatever we can to support them at this incredibly tough time with many fundraising events being planned to take place over the next few months.

With regards to weather in the Caribbean, the reality is that the islands enjoy year-round sunshine with the exceptions being September and October when the chance of encountering a tropical storm is higher.  The rates are also at their lowest during these times and the offers at their best, making it excellent value!

Hurricanes do not generally hit more than 1 or 2 islands, Irma and Maria were anomalies as they hit a chain of islands.  Please do be reassured that the last major hurricane in the Caribbean before this was 7 years ago, so it is NOT a regular occurrence!  If you would like more information on any of affected islands, or if you would like to be involved and/or contribute to the fundraising efforts that Turquoise are supporting, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at any time – [email protected]
