Known as the Spice Island, Grenada is a haven of scents, sounds, and lush landscapes designed to relax and pamper you. With more spices per square mile than anywhere else in the world, the rich scent of the island will follow you wherever you go. Grenada is fortuitously located in the south of the Caribbean, below the traditional hurricane belt, which means it’s a better bet to head here in the off-season than it might be elsewhere. Grenada’s southwest coast holds the most appeal for the luxury traveller, with a stretch of gorgeous beach lined with a truly wonderful range of accommodation.

Three of our favourite hotels and resorts in Grenada:

laluna1. Laluna

Nestled away on 25 acres of lush land, the magical boutique hotel of Laluna is comprised of just 16 cottages designed by the acclaimed Italians Carmelina Santoro and Gabriella Giuntoli (who has designed Armani’s villa). Laluna is only a short drive from the capital but immediately gives off a private and secluded feel perfect for honeymooners and couples looking to capture that romantic glow.

One cottage will be yours for your stay, with a four-poster king-size bed, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, and a magnificent stone verandah for you to enjoy living outdoors. There is a 40 square foot plunge pool with magnificent views over the water. The resort has a restaurant, sunset bar, gym, yoga classes, and an Asian spa.

mount cinnamon2. Mount Cinnamon

The most contemporary of our selections, Mount Cinnamon is a new boutique hotel offering a blend of stylish Mediterranean architecture with classic Caribbean touches. The resort is comprised of 21 sea-facing villas and suites, all of which are luxuriously appointed with white-washed walls, beautifully designed furnishings, and a fully equipped kitchen. Set over a hillside boasting gorgeous views, the resort is right on the desirable Grand Anse Beach. A highlight is the restaurant, which is right by the poolside and boasts gorgeous Mediterranean and West Indian cuisine, with a few touches here and there of the English gastropub favourites.

Guests also enjoy complimentary water sports, children’s activities, a swimming pool, gym, and tennis court, along with the Moi Spa, which can also arrange treatments in the privacy of your suite.

Also located on the beautiful Grand Anse Beach, Spice Island is a family run and owned world-class resort, featuring 64 elegantly appointed suites. Each suite has its own balcony or terrace, with a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a jacuzzi. Some of the suites also feature private gardens and hammocks for relaxing under the bright Caribbean sun, while the Pool Suites are perfect for couples and honeymooners with a private plunge pool in the Anthurium Pool Suites and a residential size swimming pool in the Luxury Almond Pool Suites. The most luxurious experience, however, is to be had in the Royal Collection Pool Suites, which are spacious villas with private gardens, swimming pools, outdoor sauna, separate living room and marble bathroom. These suites also boast their own coordinators.

The resort also has a fine dining restaurant, a casual bar serving lunch and cocktails, a spa, Gatsby boutique, state-of-the-art gym, teenis court, bicycles, and green fees at the nine-hole Grenada Golf Club.
