Lying within sixty acres of tropical gardens amidst idyllic surroundings, Constance Le Prince Maurice is widely recognised as one of the finest establishments in the Indian Ocean. Fringed by an uninterrupted swathe of brilliant white sand and enclosed by its own reef-protected lagoon, this glorious setting promises an uncompromisingly glamorous beach experience. From the moment you step foot under the soaring timber entrance, you will be captivated by the charm of this stylish sanctuary – an allure which extends through to the sensational ‘suite only’ rooms. Scattered along the fine white sand, throughout the gardens or on stilts perched over the lagoon, each colonial-style thatched suite is beautifully appointed with wooden furniture, delicate fabrics, cream tones and exquisite marble bathrooms. Sheltered from the prevailing winds and designed with complete privacy in mind, the air-conditioned suites spill out onto private terraces or balconies.

Superb food and wine is an integral part of the ‘Prince Maurice’ experience. The magical, ‘floating’ Le Barachois restaurant, which is set at the end of a snaking boardwalk, is as fabulous as the cuisine it serves, whilst à la carte light, spicy flavoured gourmet food is available at the stylish L’Archipel restaurant overlooking the pool. Rounding off a perfect day sipping cocktails as the sun disappears behind the mountains, is an absolute ‘must’.

‘Les Petits Princes’ Mini Club offers a fullyequipped playroom, dining room and private swimming pool for the children aged from 4 – 12 years whilst parents can indulge in the heavenly Guerlain Spa or play a round or two on one of the championship golf courses at the nearby sister property, the Constance Belle Mare Plage. Other complimentary activities include tennis, squash, cycling and a variety of watersports such as waterskiing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking and glass-bottom boat trips.

Here’s what Mark and Zoe thought…

‘The entrance to the hotel is designed so that you walk in and are greeted by the swimming pool and ocean straight away – breathtaking!…we were taken (at very high speed!) to our suite only to find we actually had a choice of 3! We opted for the one closest to the shore which actually had its own mini beach, complete with our names on the palm tree! The suite was gorgeous. Colonial is how we would describe it, I just know I’d like one at the end of the garden!
The service was exceptional all week, truly five star, to the point where it took us a couple of days to get used to being looked after so well. Every minor issue was taken care of promptly with a follow up call to check we were happy. The staff seemed genuinely happy to serve, down to insisting on cleaning our sunglasses and exchanging warm bottles of water for cold! The food was also fantastic, our personal highlight being the best beef we’ve ever tasted. ‘ (Mark & Zoe x) Travelled October 2011
