One of the biggest appeals about travel, and long haul in particular, is discovering the range of adventurous flavours which our beautiful planet produces. From home cooking to gourmet, here are our favourite restaurants from around the world where you can experience delightful cuisine in the most exciting settings.
Stush in the Bush, Jamaica
This unique restaurant was inspired by the love story of owners Lisa and Chris to create a dining experience which is a ‘combination of Rastafari and chic’. The farm-to-table concept provides delectable vegetarian dishes with award winning products grown a stone’s throw from your dining table. Stush in the Bush is located in the north of Jamaica, surrounded by lush greenery in the parish of St Ann. Dine in the open air and enjoy those glorious Jamaican flavours of good, honest food.
Clifford Pier, Singapore
Linked to The Fullerton Bay Hotel preserves the pier’s hawker culture while honouring its historical role as the landing point of Singapore’s forefathers. On the menu are the best of Singapore’s culinary delicacies represented by a melting pot of diverse cultures including Western classics. Signature dishes include sop kambing, a traditional mutton soup infused with local spices; and porchetta, a slow-roasted spice-infused crispy suckling pig.
Bloody Mary’s, Bora Bora
Established in 1979, Bloody Mary’s is known for a fun evening out in Bora Bora. Choose from a variety of fish caught that day displayed on ice, and tailor the dish to your preferences. At the buffet you can choose from a vast selection and create your own dish. It’s a touristy experience, but it’s all done in a warm Polynesian atmosphere with a great variety of seafood and flavours.
Asado Restaurant at The Palace Downtown, Dubai.
Our Indian Ocean and Middle East product manager Lisa loves Asado! This vibrant restaurant offers delicious Argentine dining, offering premium cuts of meat on an open grill. The farmhouse atmosphere is a great contrast to the glitzy city and the restaurant provides stunning views of the famous Dubai fountains.
The Greenhouse at Babylonstoren, South Africa
‘This is the epitome of farmhouse chic. It’s a working farm and vineyard and it’s a truly great spot for lunch while staying in the Winelands! It’s all about the organic food, freshly grown in the garden (the menu reflects the seasons), artisanal breads (you can opt to bake bread with the baker in the morning), handcrafted cheeses, homemade herb oils, chutneys, relishes, the list goes on! This is all served with incredibly tasty and healthy juices labelled by colour. Yellow combines carrot, ginger, pineapple, melon, orange whilst Red mixes beetroot, red apple, watermelon and plums. The ethos is farm-to-fork and the style is a subtle blend of rustic and contemporary. I love the fact that the food comes to your table served in small wooden crates, with salads in jars and fresh bread from the wood-fired oven wrapped in Babylonstoren paper.’’– Sue Bell, Product Director
Sierra Mar restaurant at Post Ranch Inn, California
The incredible ocean views from Sierra Mar add to this very special hilltop setting. Enjoy an exquisite fine dining four course dinner. Ingredients are inspired by California’s local flavours and accompanied by wine awarded by Wine Spectator’s Grand Award. This is the place to go for romancing on Big Sur’s dramatic coastline.
