After recently returning from the Maldives, travel specialist Lizzie Alleyne weighs up the pros and cons of staying all-inclusive so you can make the right choice for you when staying in this paradise…

The Maldives is such an incredible destination that everyone deserves to enjoy it to the utmost! The service and food offerings are out of this world in the hotels that we, at Turquoise Holidays, recommend. So, what better way to enjoy your Maldivian experience than through an amazing all-inclusive package?

There are many benefits to staying all-inclusive in the Maldives, but at the end of the day it’s down to your personal choice. Only you know how much you’ll want to eat and drink each day during your getaway. If you’re not going to drink many alcoholic drinks during the course of your stay, or not enjoy three full meals a day, then it’s probably not the right package for you. However, food and drinks in the Maldives are expensive as everything needs to be imported. So, if you do want to simply indulge yourself during your holiday and not have to worry about the bill at the end of your stay then all-inclusive is the best choice for you. Ultimately, once you take advantage of the food, drinks and other activities the hotel has to offer, then it works out to be quite economical compared to if you weren’t on an all-inclusive package. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy all that the resort has to offer… and as many cocktails as you like!

No all-inclusive package is the same in each hotel, especially in the Maldives. So it’s important to make sure you find the right fit for you. For example, some hotels give you access to all restaurants on their all-inclusive package whereas others may offer you a credit to dine at one or two of their other restaurants instead.

Here are our top three favourite all-inclusive hotels in the Maldives to get you inspired:

Velassaru

Located in the South Malé Atoll and only a 25-minute speedboat journey from the main island, Malé, Velassaru is a great choice for their all-inclusive package, as it gives you access to all five of their restaurants and two bars. Aptly named the ‘Indulgence’ package, you can enjoy one of the finest culinary experiences Velassaru has to offer, plus a few extras to take advantage of.

Constance Moofushi

Located a 25-minute seaplane journey away from Malé, in the South Ari Atoll, Constance Moofushi is the perfect mix of simplicity and luxury. This hotel is an all-inclusive only property and they’re probably one of the best hotels for food and drink in the Maldives – absolutely tip-top! All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) can be enjoyed in their Manta restaurant with daily themed buffet menus. Dinner is also available at Alizée (fine dining) at an additional charge, or once during your holiday if you’re staying for seven nights or more, and a laid-back beach lunch can also be had at Totem Bar.

OZEN by Atmosphere

OZEN is a fresh new hotel in the Maldives, opening in summer 2016. It’s a great comprehensive all-inclusive option giving you plenty of opportunity to indulge. Also located in the South Malé Atoll and only 45 minutes by speedboat, there’s plenty of opportunity to get stuck into some amazing activities. OZEN really doesn’t compromise on quality – the food and drink on offer are simply amazing! Plus, they opened the first gin bar in the Maldives in June called Gin Is In. The bar offers over 25 top-of-the-range brands of distinctly rich herbal, organic, and exotic flavours, along with a selection of tonics to compliment!
