We are delighted to introduce the lovely Lyle Pauls, who has recently joined the team of Carlisle Bay in Antigua, as the hotels General Manager. Located in a secluded cove on the south coast of the island, Carlisle Bay is a wonderfully private hotel for couples and extremely safe for families of all ages. We love the elegance and simplicity of the design and style, creating a wonderfully Caribbean yet contemporary feel to the resort.

Hi Lyle, how long have you been General Manager at the hotel?

I landed in lovely Antigua and Carlisle Bay just three weeks ago and instantly fell in love with it.  The warmth and beauty of Antigua is only surpassed by its people.

If you could sum up the hotel in three words, what would they be?

Simple Discreet Luxury

The accommodation at the hotel looks stunning; could you tell us a bit about the style of the property, and where that inspiration came from?

Take Miami cool and mix it with Caribbean charm.  Our style is understated, with clean tapestries flowing around lush textures. We are a simple and airy design with many experiences from solemn library areas to bars crackling with energy.  There is always a sun dappled emotion next to a shaded area of respite.

Do you get to know the guests that come and stay with you at the hotel?

Interacting with and delighting our guests is our lifestyle.  It is what we love.  It truly is the desire of all of our associates. What could be better than creating memories.

Which is your favourite restaurant? Do you have a favourite dish?

Of our four dining experiences, EAST has my favourite fish dish. Papes Ikan is a whole spiced local fish wrapped and baked in banana leaf.  Ottimo serves a wood-oven baked margarita pizza which simply stuns with a fruity red wine.  Then there is Indigo’s Caribbean infused food and the fire-pit happenings at Jetty Bar.

Do you tend to have a lot of repeat guests coming back to the hotel every year?

On every island there is a place where everyone goes… not to visit and leave, but to experience and return. In Antigua, that place is Carlisle Bay.

Which is your favourite excursion on offer to the guests at the hotel?

My favourite excursion to offer is a fishing trip.  Our guests bring back their catch and have it expertly prepared for them by one of our Chefs.  My personal favourite is to zip around on a Hobie cat. Our water sports team offers lessons and anyone can learn how in a very short time.

Finally – would you say the hotel is more suited to couples, or families? Or both?

Our expansive grounds, beach and activities are geared for both couples and families. There are activities for everyone..  There is a range of adult only areas and activities and the same for families too. We are an all-rounder..
