Grace Bay Club, Turks & Caicos
Some 575 miles southeast of Miami, the Turks and Caicos feature turquoise waters, seclusion and serenity in a pleasantly warm and non-humid climate. The islands remained pretty untouched until the 1980s and the first luxury resort, Grace Bay Club, opened in 1993. Perched on 11 acres of landscaped gardens and the soft powdery sand of race Bay Beach, the legendary Grace Bay Club remains the most glamorous resort on the island. It’s divided into separate types of accommodation: the romantic adults-only Hotel (no children under 12), alongside the Villas and the ultra-spacious Estate. We stayed at the luxurious Hotel with its Mediterranean-inspired architecture, intimate ambience and friendly Caribbean service – an ideal choice for honeymooners. This elegant all-suite hotel has magnificent ocean views from its private terraces and it was refreshing to have an adults-only swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Each stylishly appointed suite features a king-size bed, kitchenette and a luxurious bathroom with a separate shower.
There are also one and two-bedroom Luxury and Grace Bay Suites. The Grace Bay Suites offer ocean views from both bedroom and sitting room; living rooms in the Luxury Suites overlook the ocean while the bedroom enjoys garden views. The open-top balcony is a great oasis for topping up your tan, or simply for sipping your favourite ice cold beverage as the sun goes down. The dining options are fabulous. Take your pick from the al fresco Grill Rouge, the gourmet Anaconda (considered one of the finest restaurants on Providenciales), or enjoy tapas in the trendy outdoor Lounge. There are three bars, the most impressive of which is the Caribbean’s longest bar, the 90-foot Infiniti Bar. The Anani spa is a beautiful oasis of tranquillity with holistic and aromatherapy treatments using Aromatic Essence and Elemis products. Water-based activities, including snorkelling, sailing and ocean kayaking, are highly recommended and, if you’re lucky enough, the friendly dolphin JoJo might accompany you in the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea.
