Just a 9-10 hour direct flight from London, this fascinating island is closer than you think and it is certainly worth a visit! Here at Turquoise we highly recommend splitting your stay between 2 or 3 different areas of the island.
Perhaps start with a few days at Strawberry Hill in the Blue Mountains where you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity, or don your walking boots and set off on one of the hiking trails to explore the verdant surroundings. You’ll come across coffee plantations, remote villages and tropical waterfalls.
Then venture across the island to Negril, home to a 7 mile stretch of pristine beach, and stay at The Caves, a unique, boutique property set atop the cliffs offering spectacular sunsets from most of the rooms! Enjoy escaping from the world with a candlelit dinner or spa treatment, all inside one of the magnificent caves. Horse lovers can enjoy a heavenly ride along an almost deserted beach nearby!
Last, but by no means least, head to Jamaica Inn near Ocho Rios for a few days of lazing on the beach, as well as visiting the famous Dunns River Falls (we recommend going later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds) and for any adrenalines junkies, the Jamaican bobsleigh experience is a must! Foodies can enjoy fantastic meals close to Ocho Rios – our favourites are Stush in the Bush for organic, gourmet food and Scotchies for some local jerk chicken, rice and peas!
